Following a sacrificial mass suicide driven by a wave of irrational religious fervor, Planet Security calls upon the ship ISG Ishimura to remove the marker and transport it for research. Think a “zero gravity chainsaw fight” sounds awesome? Mark October 28 on your calendar and get ready for the release of Dead Space: Downfall, the animated movie prequel to EA’s hit videogame creepfest Dead Space.Ī deep space mining operation discovers a huge and mysterious alien marker on a remote planet, which many come to believe is evidence of divine creation. Another animated film Dead Space: Aftermath was released in 2011 and took place between Dead Space and Dead Space 2.CAUTION: The above video and other links in this post are certified peanut-free, but may contain Dead Space spoilers. It used to be a video game just had aliens attacking Earth and you defending it…now the aliens have reasons or as in Dead Space aren’t even alien. The movies are a tip of the hat to the videogame source material which are getting stronger as years go on. Dead Space follows other video games in creating these animated tie-in. I do like what it has attempted and wish it could have been just a bit better. The movie cannot please everyone, and probably won’t please everyone. They wanted a stand-alone story, a tie-in story, and to appeal to players of the video games. It is hindered by the story which doesn’t allow enough development for the characters (besides Alissa Vincent) and though the Necromorphs are cool, I wish there was more variety in them attacking…though they are creepy looking.ĭead Space: Downfall has high ambitions that can’t quite be achieved. The animation for Dead Space: Downfall is good, and a strange cross between standard animation and anime. Sorry, lady…kind of got to go with your mates…a big chunk of this is your fault
